Our 14 November meeting was another high turnout of Rotarians and guests who were updated on our recent past and upcoming events as well as an educational and insightful presentation by our Rotarian Guenter, who presented his findings on “Environmental Issues” around the world. As the Chair of our club’s Environment Committee and an engineer by trade, Rtn Guenter provoked our thoughts on some vitally important issues resulting from humanity’s impact on our planet Earth with factual timelines spanning several decades. He covered various aspects such as the changing climate, PM2.5 and PM10 air pollution, water pollution, solid waste mismanagement and the detrimental effects of microplastics and floating garbage bodies in the oceans. Guenter discussed the long-term environmental impacts on human health and alternative and renewable energy resources as well.
It was also very good to welcome back our frequent and longtime visiting Rotarian from abroad Rtn Boel of RC Stockholm International, and also PP Dougie from RC Bangkok South. In the end, our trusty Club Treasurer Albert won the raffle for the bottle of wine which was presented by PP Paul, our 4th club president.
